Oh Bavaria...

Jan Delay, one of the best german entertainers at the moment, is definitely right when saying that life is totally different south of the Elbe river. You greet each other with "Grüß Gott" instead of "Moin Moin", people eat Semmel instead of Franzbrötchen and where there are usually no hills you will find a lot of them. A trip to Bavaria requires a lot of adjustments for the typicall northern German, but it is one I really wanted to make over the easter holidays!

Like so many other Hamburg-"foreigners" I do not have the priviledge to be able to visit my beloved ones in a radius of 20 kilometers. My sister for example lives in Munich, which I do not approve of at all! That is exactly why I had to take advantage of the last couple of holidays and fly "down" to visit her. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as nice as it should have been, considering the time of the year, so all we basically did was stay home and relax on the couch (which can also be very nice once in a while). The only excursion I really insisted on (since the landscape is so different from northern germany) was one to the mountains. So even though we had to deal with a bit of rain at the beginning we went to Schlier- and Spitzingsee on monday, where about 20 centimeters of snow were already waiting for us. It was still beautiful up there, which you can see on the images above and below. Enjoy...
